How much are you planning on paying for it. I only have 13,000 on my 91 and I can only sell it for $1,800 if I´m lucky. As far as the rattle at idle, it is the timing chains rattling against the case. No worries as long as the rattle goes away if you break idle. 40,000 miles is a ton of miles for a bike, but I must say, I have enjoyed my bike for the almost 20 years I have owned it. Good luck.
