help replacing carb boots?

I´ve got a sweet ´91 Zephyr 750 with cracked carb intake boots. What is the best way to replace? Can I leave the carbs assembled or do I have to remove each one separately? Should I take the air box housing off or try to remove from the engine side? It looks like it might be easier to just cut the rubber boots (that are going to be replaced anyway) to give me better access. Good idea or bad idea?

I know there must be plenty of owners out there who have done this. The job seems a little intimidating at first, help please!

thanks, Peter
