2003-1500 mean streak (engine noise) PLEASE HELP

I am looking to buy a Kawasaki 1500 Mean streak the bike is real nice, priced right with 12,000 miles. I would like to know if anyone out there is familiar with the bike. My concern is that there seemed to be a low level knocking in the center part of the engine. The owner told me that it was normal for the bike. If anyone has experience with this noise please let me know what if anything you needed to do to repair this problem. I plan to see a local service center to try and learn more before I make the purchase but would appreciate all comments thanks to everyone.
