The description you have given about the trials of simply starting up a B50 T makes it seem about as attractive and sophisticated as a horse and cart in comparison to a Formula 1 car. Were electronic ignitions not commonplace at that time on Jap and European bikes ? Having to go to all that trouble just to start the engine is a measure of the technical inadequacy that BSA and other Brit bikes were noted for, it´s absolutely bloody pathetic that those measures were required and quite amazing that BSA didn´t appear to find any fault with it. Combined with naff styling this model met with it´s inevitable doom.
