hi,i bought a 1993 xtz 660 tenere, coming back from isle of man,it broke down, got it started by bumping it,as not enough power to run starter,22 miles later lights went an bike died.got recovery an the charging system had gone down.got it home and changed rectifier, bike ran first touch, only for 2 days and bike did not even have spark.so i removed alternator cover and found white oil?thinking head gasket.further inspection it turned out to only be condensation as sump oil ok.i noticed the alternator plug was so rusty inside, looked like it had been left in the sea for ten years, never seen a connection so bad in all the years i have been working on bikes.so cut them off and resoldered good condition second hand plug, made gaskets up and reassembled.bike only starts on starter now an then,so having to bump start, but she fires up every time and so far been reliable, and have noticed an increase in power.she a good bike just got to try sort out the little teething problems, any one who has had similar problems i welcome your experience an how you managed to rectify the problems.kind regards gary
