Review of the 2006 Honda CRF 250 X:Great bike! |

I have 183 miles on my 2006 CRF250X. I am an intermediate, weekend rider. I live in the Southwest and ride mostly in loose dirt and trails. I do some jumps and probably get 5-6 feet in the air on a good day. I am 6’0” tall and weight about 205 lbs. I ride at about 5600 feet elevation. The low to mid range of the power band is great. It pulls me to the top of big hills with ease. At high rpm’s the bike is scary fun. I have no complaints about power. I never notice any hesitation from the throttle…not even from a standing start. The clutch is smooth. The bike is very reliable. The electric starter works well. Sometimes I have to kick-start it when it’s cold outside, but the kick-starter is positioned in a great spot and works well. The choke is easy to reach and does its job well. No problems with flooding the carburetor. The suspension is great. I haven’t made any adjustments to the suspension, but if you are so inclined, you could make a ton. The suspension is so good that I can tell it was designed for riders MUCH more aggressive than me. But, even at my level, I can appreciate how awesome it is. It is pure fun over the bumps and in the corners. The bike is very easy to maintain. All the oil drain plugs are easy to reach and the filters easy to change out. Everything works the way it was intended. The owner’s manual covers all the preventative maintenance. PROS: The bike is user friendly and plenty powerful. It performs better than I could have hoped. CONS: It’s expensive. |
