The bike that gave a generation gravel rash. I had three of the things, a 250 a 250 YPVS (import) and a 350. Bloody marvellous. | ||

These bikes are brilliant fun, when you´re seventeen. If I was to ride any of them now I´d probably regret it, but if you´re yound and can find a good one, get it. I learnt more about the internals of a two stroke with these, especially the powervalve (blew it up 3 times), than with anything before or since. Best advice if you´re looking to buy one; 1. Get an unmolested original example. 2. Check the exhaust ports on the cylinder head. The heads aluminium so the exhaust clamp bolts have a habbit of pulling out and the only way to fix it is with a helicoil. Once thats been done its a whole new head. 3. Lift the rear wheel, spin it and press lightly on the footbrake with your hand. If as it spins you feel it rub in places as it spins, the dums gone oval. Another common fault. 4. Finally check all the electrics with the steering dead centre and at both locks. The wires in the loom at the head stock have a habbit of breaking. |
