I´ve been riding 40 years, and the ´06 Star Stratoliner S is the best bike for me. | ||||||
Every rider knows no one bike has every quality and does everything exactly matching their idea of what the perfect dream bike would be... and every rider is as unique an individual as the vast array of bikes on the road. For me, the Stratoliner S comes closest to my ideal bike on the greatest number of points. It´s light weight for it´s size, and 100+HP make it very quick. The ride quality is superb. Very little ´sail´, even with the large windshield. The EXUP valve kicks you in the seat of the pants at 2500 rpm. It´s nimble enough to use as a daily commuter or short-hop pleasure bike, and large enough to be comfortable on long runs down the Interstate. Any bike can be improved, and for what it´s worth, here is my ´wish list.´ Yamaha factory guys, if you are listening, there are some things the growing family of Strat/Roadliner owners would like to have... but cannot find either from Yamaha or from aftermarket sources. 1. Visors: if any bike needs visors for headlamp, passing lights, and turn signals, this one does. It´s just a styling thing. 2. The instrument panel needs a visor to block reflections in the windshield. 3. Windshield bag: Haven´t found anything that works with the existing w/s setup. The aftermarket hasn´t done much of anything for Road/Stratoliner other than the Roadhouse slip-on, which I have and love (deep rumbly sound, plenty loud enough). For those considering purchasing a roadliner or stratoliner, it has my hearty endorsement. For the record, my Stratoliner-S has the big-bar engine guard, and passing lamps. Get the Stratoliner model if you want w/s, saddle bags, and backrest. They are easily removeable with the turn of a key. |
