Large comfortable bike if a little on the heavy side. Not as fast as modern Japanese bikes but quick enough to overtake fast moving traffic. It will cruise effortlessly all day at 80/90 mph without wearing the rider. | ||||||
I just got back into biking after a long lay off. I purchased it from a friend, a little on the short side, who after having it put down a couple of times when standing still, decided it was too much of a handful. Having heard that the Sprint is top heavy, I was a little apprehensive on my first outing. No problem though. Contrary to what I have read, I found the bike to be very stable at low speeds and quite easy to manoeuvre in heavy traffic. I’m only 5’ 9” but I can plant both my feet firmly on the ground. The only time I felt the bike was in danger of going down was when I had to brake in an emergency half way through a bend. Here’s a tip: “do not let the front wheel lock when not straight”. Or better still; do not let it lock at all. I have found the bike to be a delight to ride and it has proved to be a talking point whenever I have stopped in the company of other riders. Usual comment was: “I did not know Triumph still made bikes”. The bike has been a pleasure to ride and I have had no mechanical problems whatsoever. The engine is incredibly flexible and the exhaust note is absolutely enjoyable. On the minus side, do not rely solely on the rear brake to slow you down and the bike is a handful when trying to put it on the centre stand because of its weight.
