My GN125 is now 16 years old has done 33,000 miles and changed hands 4 times. I have owned it for 6 months and used it back and forth to work and aside from mechanical issues caused by rust the only problems I have had stem from a minor accident I had 6 days after buying it! I haven´t thought much of it if I´m honest - comments like ´piece of junk´, ´its only a 125cc´, ´good for work´ often can be heard coming from my mouth but recently this little bike, this piece of junk, this ´rust bucket´ has proved me wrong! I have just moved from Pontypridd, South Wales to Ixworth, Suffolk, East Anglia and the only practical way for me to get the bike to my new address was to ride it there! As it happens I travelled from Llanelli - now I know what you´re thinking - Simple right¿ M4, A40, M50, M5, M42, M6, M1, A14, A143¿ Simple enough right¿ Wrong ´L´ plates complicate things no end! Motorways are out so instead its A484, A483, A465, A49, A40, A34, A4421, A421, A428, A14 and A143. Now albeit there is a much simpler route which is all well and good when looking at a map but when your sat nav fails and you don´t know the area - all you have is landmarks! But I digress - the point is up until about 2 weeks ago I would never have said my little bike was capable of a 300 mile journey not in one day with only a short time to cool down in between way points! When I had the MOT and the garage set it was mechanically sound - I started to believe it would be possible but I had no idea just how well the bike would cope! You can keep your big tourers - this bike is more than capable, and surprisingly comfortable, for such a long journey! | |
