| My mission was complex, but focused. Find an economical mid size cruiser that was big enough to sit under a 6´2´, 235lb. man without making me look like I ride for the circus. I wanted something reliable I could commute to work on, but also something halter dropping hot that could party with me on the weekends. I looked at every mid size from 700 - 1000 cc. Nothing blew my hair back until I saw the new Kaw 900. After some research, I got my checkbook out faster than Michael Moore at the buffet. I bought a gorgeous ebony black one, and immediately swapped the cheap grips and geek mirrors for some Billet hardware. My new straight pipes come in next week, although the stock ones look and sound very good. My buddy has a big Harley fatboy, and my 900 rolls right next to him with pride. The ride is very comfortable, even on long trips. The fuel injected engine has incredible torque for a mid sizer, and the belt drive is smooth and impressive when shifting. The stance is aggressive but classy, and it looks and feels like my old 1600 did. The difference is, I´m getting about 50-60 miles per gallon. It´s a very manuverable bike, and turns every head it passes. NO ONE thinks it´s a 900 when they see it, and I´ve even had to show the numbers to a few unbelievers. My original intent was to buy some after market bags and a detachable windshield, but I´ve fallin in love with the sweet softtail styling and I don´t really want to hide it with ugly accessories. The bottom line is, you will not be disappointed with anything about this bike, unless you are blind and deaf, in which case you shouldn´t be riding a motorcycle anyway. |
