For Dollars 700, obtained with one head junked from a broken valve, the original intent was to make a street rideable Saturday track racer. Upon examination of the serial number, it was found to be the number 3 prototype of the V 65 Lario. There began the total restoration of a rarity of Moto Guzzis. Complete engine and drivetrain, suspension, engine, and electrical. Engine vavles, pieces and parts, rebuilding of the original Marzzochi shocks; Italian racing red powder coating of fork lowers; complete Italian racing red repainting of body parts, black powder coating of frame, original decaling, and new stator, battery and rectifier. The motor has been started, run, and carbs and valves adjusted. So much compression the new battery has a hard time pushing the motor through the compression stroke. Now it will be carefully ´run in´. I´ve owned a V 65 Sp and V 65 C and loved the bikes. From what I have been told, read, and seen, this bike is a 750 in 650 clothing and should be a hoot if all the cages will leave it alone. More later after the ride. |
