The R65 is an excellent handling bike that is a great all day tourer. The Bing carbs are very problematic, but are the only drawback. | ||||||
The bike has exceptional handling and even outrides my Katana 600 through the turns. The large fuel tank is great for longer rides. The bike runs much better, and shifts much easier in the high rpm range. Sounds and shifts like a tractor at low rpm. The serious flaw is the 32mm Bing carbs that eat through the float bowl gaskets after only a few rides from excess vibration. This causes large amounts of fuel to leak out while riding. I have adjusted the floats to see if it would stop fuel leaking, but ended up starving the engine of fuel. Found a website that sold neoprene gaskets that worked much better than the cork. On a side note, the bike is also great at hauling beer in the plastic saddle bags. Can fit a thirty pack in each bag for the party after the ride. |
