2008 Suzuki Burgman 650 review

Review of the 2008 Suzuki Burgman 650:

Not a Goldwing

Due to health reasons and no longer having the strength to handle my ´06 Goldwing this bike offers reasonable comfort and handling. Other pros and cons are noted in my main review.

Pros: Light weight, easy to manuver, peppy performance (for a scooter), automatic or manual shift (with gear indicator), quiet, good fuel economy (I average 57mpg), powerful enough for 2 up riding in mountainous terrain and enough storage space for a weekend getaway.

Cons: Non self-cancelling turn signals (inexcuseable), mediocre ride and braking, worthless 12V outlet in glovebox (can´t close it with anything plugged in), quality control issues (parts falling off, sqealing brakes and rattling instrument panel), no oil dipstick (sight gauge only), can´t install both a rider backrest and luggage rack, a little short on driver legroom (for me anyway), difficult to work on (or expensive dealer service)and few accessory or aftermarket items available.

Bottom line: I knew it could not compare to the comfort and power of my Goldwing but at half the price of one Suzuki could have done a better job on what they tout as a ´touring scooter´.
