A comfortable, practical, efficient, lightweight cruising bike for getting from point A to point B. It does everything I need acceptably and has no major flaws that I can discern. | ||
I never noticed this class of bike while living in the US, but
machines in the 110-250cc range are exceedingly common in Mexico, where
biking is less about showboating and more about traveling efficiently,
and that`s further emphasized because Mexico tends to much better biking
weather than most of the US; it`s warm and semi-arid, so you have a lot
of good biking days, and so there`s a lot more demand for practical
riding. This thing is basically the minimum
bike you need to cruise the highway at the speed limit and in comfort,
so it gets about 80 mpg, and then at about $1800 USD brand new, it`s very
affordable. It`s not in any way a slouch and it has ample acceleration
to merge with city or highway traffic. It cruises nicely at around 4500
RPM or so. After living in the US, I got used to these thunderous
Harley-style machines that make a lot of noise and weigh about as much
as a car. This thing is feather-light, on about the order of a dirtbike
and that means that even though it`s meant for highway use, it`s not a
bear to prop up with your legs when navigating bad roads. I think the
paradigm I got used to in the US is that everyone wants the same vehicle
that gets them to the office or grocery store to also have 200 hp up its
sleeve to participate in that once-in-a-lifetime impromptu drag race,
and when you think about it, it really makes no sense. This thing is
agile for merging with the traffic pattern, and not getting splattered,
and then it`s made to keep up with traffic on the highway for the long
haul if you want to ride all day. If you don`t have anybody to impress,
it`s perfect. |
