I just purchased a slightly used 2005 Yamaha Vino 125 CC ( Dollars 2,000). I rode motorcycles for for almost twenty years and now scooters for the last five. I have owned a Helix, Reflex, Vespa 125(1966) and a numner of other odd vehicles classified as scooters. All are simply tools designed to accomplish some purpose. None satisfy all requirements. The Vino appears well suited for in city running around. It has adequate power (pleasantly surprised) to keep up with traffic. It has a nice storage space under the seat and on it, I am reasonably comfortable (6´-0´ tall, 185 lbs.) The quality of construction is good and the engine makes a nice throuty sound on acceration. (its a guy thing). I have no idea what the top speed will be (still breaking it in) and do not care. Because of the short wheelbase and small wheels, this is not a vehicle designed for high speeds. It is very easy to navigate and excellent in congested traffic. The 250 CC scooters I owned, were more comfortable, but much less maneuverable and 150 pounds heavier. Summary, The Vino will do the in-city work quite well, without carrying around all the extra stuff not useful in the City. Recommended. | |
