I have 3 of these, a 79 and 2 80´s. These bikes have been my personal hobby and daily drivers for twenty years. | ||||||

The good; For 400cc´s, plenty of power. If you let the rev´s drift up between 5-7000, acceleration is spirited. Gas mileage is excellent, averaging between 55-60mpg among my three bikes. Handling is ok, the big disc up front will stop you quickly and easily, without any tendency to lock. One of my bikes has all the old luggage racks and a tall sissy bar- we call it ´little mule´ it hauls 150lb of camping gear to the beach without complaint. Overall- an excellent, forgiving, economical bike that becomes an extremely practical daily driver with a small windshield and a sissy bar for a back-pak (grocery getter). The bad; These bikes are BUZZY at highway speeds over 60mph, they WILL numb your hands. The old seats don´t offer very good padding after 30+ years for the driver (passenger is still excellent. Long trips will tire you. Value- If you find one of these for less than 1000 Dollars and fewer than 25K miles- GET IT. Over 25K there will be wear (balancer and cam chains) |
