550 miles on my new 2008 Aprilia 200

I´ve had lots of cycles from 250cc to 1100cc and several scooters but this Aprilia 200 is very impressive.

It will run comfortably at 70-75mph on the freeway which surprised me. I´m getting 74 mpg so far during break-in. It´s quick off the line and handles well in cross winds. I wouldn´t hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
The seat is reasonably comfortable and the ride is about as good as scooters get-a little on the bumpy side. It is a little touchy about starting. Sometimes it cranks right up and others it floods easily-especially when hot.
I tried the 100 model but it made me feel unsafe since I just couldn´t travel with traffic moving much over 40mph.
I´ve had the speedo actually reading 82mph on the 200 but it is probably an optimistic reading.
It handles well. I can corner about as good as most low-end cycles and have had great fun running down a couple of Harleys on a twisty road and embarassing them by staying with them when they decided to leave me behind. They were your typical Harley riders so it wasn´t difficult to do. I obviously couldn´t keep up with good riders on decent bikes.
I carry this 200 on a cycle rack behind my motorhome and it´s low center of gravity, centrifical clutch, and left hand brake make it very easy to load by myself. I went for a scooter for low weight and ease of loading since I´m almost 69 years old and don´t want a heavy cycle falling on me during loading.
Most of my motorhome friends have Harleys so it´s going to be great fun kicking their butts on the twisties after staying with them on the freeway-WITH A SCOOTER!
