I´ll try to not sound biased, but I like this bike. It doesn´t try to be anything it´s not and can´t be bought or sold with that impression either.

This is a speed machine and if you want to maintain a good relationship with this bike it likes to be ridden fairly hard. Puttering around town it performs alright and will take you where you need to go reliably but go above 5ooorpm and it wakes up fast, pulling hard until redline. The gearbox is close and fast, fulfilling it´s duties with decisiveness. The riding position is extreme and those over 6´2´ best be double jointed. As I pointed out, the GSXR 1100 is for fun short to moderately short jaunts and if taken out of this category, will suffice but not shine. Handling takes time to get used to but in time you´ll get the groove. This bike has a high center of gravity and coupled with it´s rather wide inline 4, is cumbersome in the hands of the squeemish. An overall good handling bike, with sufficient braking, suspension and cosmetics. Although eclipsed by todays bikes in terms of speed, an aftermarket header, some carb work and a little guts will keep you on the ass of anything out there today | |
