2004 Road star 1700,I was looking to buy another harley or a big v twin cruiser when I bought this bike. The test ride was good and it seemed the bike would be great for the price. After taking the bike home on a trailer since we was having bad storms that day,I could hardly wait to get on and ride. The next day was it.I took off to get the feel by myself felt good got the feeel for the bike sounded like a harley almost, got on the interstate. At 55 and up it felt like i was riding a yz 490 2 storke dirt bike or was holding a weed eater for 3 hours it had the Jap vibration that I dont like my old hoda 750 had this on the highway as did my sporsters.I like to ride on long runs so this bike isnt for me and I still own it due to the resale value is in the tubes for these bikes. This is a great around town bar hopping bike.It also has other issues, valves need adjusted 3 times in 20,000 miles, the bike maybe gets 25 mpg if lucky,it is a gas drinker,my 02 roadking gets about 40 with the same way of riding but it is fuel injected and a 1340 cc.The seat is lacking comfort on the open road and the sharp cornering is dangerous on this bike it drags even riding like grampa.Well all in all if you ride over 100 miles in one day look at other bikes maybe a used roadking,or a vtx it seems more highway friendly. But if bar hopping is your style here it is.This is my 2 cents worth just dont want to see anyone waste thier money as I did on a bike that is useless to my riding style. | |
