Only real macho-men types see this as a scooter, and even they will admit ´it´s a pretty beefy scooter.´ Most other people just call it a ´bike´. Nobody is going to mock you for riding a scooter if you are on this machine. | ||
| To my mind, the Scarabeo line of scooters by Aprilia represents a ´modern´ and more affordable take on the Vespa theme - fairly classic lines, but with plastic bodies and big wheels. This particular model gets up to 70 mph without even breaking a sweat. The dealer tells me it is capable of 90 mph. I have about 1,000 miles on mine now and have ridden it for three months. I´m very pleased with the quality and performance, the large storage, and the appearance. It consistently gets 54 mpg. While the bike seems fine on the freeway, you begin to note the lack of fairings that would cut the buffeting some. However, that would give the bike a completely different look. |
