Purchased a 2003 V-Star Silverado for summer cruising. Great package deal with windshield, floor boards, toe/heel shift, saddle bags and backrest incld.

Ridden bike about 6,000 miles, in town, secondary roads, and inter-state. Longest single day ride was about 400 miles. Lots of torque, with gears appropriately spaced (other than 1st could be lower geared in my opinion). Fuel mileage of 45-50 mpg (with my 200 lbs and cargo). Purchased a solid luggage (tube shaped) for passenger seat, and it has a built in back rest for rider = major comfort for longer rides. Performance, value, and good looks, in an easy to handle bike, with low maintenance for a single rider, would not recommend for doubling. Only changes I made for longer ride comfort was to replace handlebars with touring style and add heated grips. I have ridden bike in mountains (solo) and it performs well, and you do not have to shift often. Below 60 mph, bike is exceptionally smooth, but get some vibration (engine revs) when doing 70-80 mph on interstate, but it does hold speed and pass well, just not as smooth as a touring bike. I own a Harley touring, Buel Blast, Honda Ascot, and have owned Honda CB750, and have ridden a variety of other bikes - and the Silverado is a perfect weight (544 lbs + extras) with large tank, performance, low seat, and low center of gravity, to perfectly fill that mid-weight cruiser slot. | |
