General specs say it will do 12.5 seconds in the quarter mile and 108mph. Not bad for a street bike that doesn´t run amok with repair bills like Ducati, or have to be in the shop every 3000 miles like so many street bikes. Smooth torque all the way through, from low rpm´s to the red line. An engine that is reliable and fun, with that same old triple sound that has been around since the 1970´s. Sweet and throaty. I´ve done several trips that were a pure pleasure cruising at 75-80mph all day long. The bike has good balance and enough power to jump to that tight spot when you´re dicing it up in traffic congestion. Lots of Harley guys come up to check out the Triumph decals and talk about 40 years of different Bonnie´s or Trophys. Brings back memories of when I bought a brand new Bonneville in 1972. Should have kept that bike. Had the European touring tank and two tone Yellow color.(I disgress) Anyway, the suspension in the front does seem soft, as does the rear brake. A small price to pay for such a fun bike. Running full synthetic oil has made it so much quieter, and run better. Great bike. Fast, reliable, smooth. Even the two headlights make it more visible to other motorists. Many times while putting gas in it, other guys will come up and say,´man, thats a nice bike...´ Even my Harley-in-laws really like it. Putting new Metzlers on it made these Ohio roads a blast. Good balance even tough standing still, it does seem top heavy. I have touring bags so lubing the chain is a hassle some times too. I wax it so much that when I went to the Triumph dealer for oil, they came out to look at it and said it was a good lookin´ bike. It is a great bike for your money. Inexpensive used price and a lot of motorcycle that is reliable and fast enough for most guys. | |
