Good bike to start on. Easy to do anything with it. Low seat height and good overall riding position.

My 82 was a good bike. I bought it from the second owner. He had just replaced the carbs. That is a common problem with these bikes. If they sit for a lenth of time, you will be rebuilding or cleaning them. And they are a pain to remove. Cams go bad, from early pitting problems. Related to oiling problems and a bad batch of cams. Honda recalled them and replaced cam valve trains for free until about 1992 or so. Second gear will go out if you beat the bike. More common with the 1100´s then in the 750´s. But its still very common. Other then that you dont have much to worry about. Shaft drive, rubber mounted , hyd clutch. Great cruiser looks without all the jaw and kidney vibration. Not great for touring long distances. The seat sucks for that. But a hour or two in the saddle around town is fun and enjoyable. 6 hour trips to Chicago with your girlfriend on back, will definetly not be getting you any action that night or maybe the entire weekend. Give Corbin a call , but the seats look silly, but are comfortable. I added 1/2 of extra foam to mine when I recovered it, but that didnt help. It would need about 4 inches extra to make a difference. Mileage is good, expect 35-40 mpg. Keep an eye on your trip meter, cause you wont see the dummy fuel light in the daytime, and you dont have a reserve switch to go to. Bike will run all day at 90 mph. Doesnt ask for much, but doesnt give much either. | |
