The Kawasaki ZRX 1200R is an extreemly practical bike. It serves for traffic, commuting, highway or weekend worrior usage, with all the power you need stock! | ||||||
This bike is probably the nicest bike I have owned. The Kawasaki Zrex as worriors call it, stands up to any bike that wishes a ride against the clock at any given time. When you turn the throtle and the the juice flows, that´s when you know what you got! You better be ready if you open that throtle wide form a stop light. The ZRX 1200 has power to fly. The ride is extreemly smooth at almost any speed. She will cruise at 60,70,80 or higher and no vibration, I was amazed at the smothness. The very ecense of power and smoothness is what made me write this few word about the little monster that doens´t get too much attention in magazines. Kawasaki accomplished what I was looking for in a all around bike. It does come in at just over 530lbs wet, but the balancing act (not up)that I can do with this bike it feels like the bike weighs much less. I have not felt a bike that can keep balance upright at dead stop for a couple of seconds except maybe the older Triumphs. Having owned only naked bikes this bike fits right in to my sights. You´ll feel that 530lbs real good if you let it tip over a little too much when standing still. It has no center stand and none offered anywhere. I recomend get a drive up bike holder or stand for your garage like I did, and it changed my worries. My my young one can get on and no worries now. The side stand is short and hard to trust. The bike feels like it was made to serve several types of rides. One would be the local traffic, which the ZRX does quite well with an instant jump on almost any production bike on any given time. Another easy ride that is quite easy to do is with one up in the rear, the bike with a 115 lb rear rider doesn´t feel much heavier. A good run for your your money is what most will feel once you turn the throtle to high rpms. The torque that the ZRX genarates is quite awsome for almost any rider. I beleive that for the money there isn´t another bike that can touch this one. The ZRX has superb acceleration and handaling. The handaling is certainly much better than my 1978 KZ1000 which was the muscle heritage which brought the ZRXs to live. The power progression on the throtle is just great on the ZRX 1200, its smooth and fairly well predictable. I havent found wobble at any given speed yet. I did go for the Corbin seat and rear ridder support, softer grips(yamaha v twin good fit), also added a 7/8´ high and 1´ back handle bars risers, from an outfit out of New Mexico, to the handle bars for a more comfortable long ride position. It didn´t seem to change the order of the bike, good. I did think that the exhaust was too quiet as well and a Yoshimura race bolt is on the way(a little less decibles that the the Muzzy). Take your hard earned money to a Kawasaki dealer if you want a deal on a real nice bike. At my age 54 and feeling 34 the ZRX 1200R was a bike that I couldn´t pass up. I did look at the Z 1000 but I found it a little too agressive for my pourpose. The looks and feel of the ZRX turns me to a 34 year old man when I get on it. I knew it would be a winner for me, after reading some reviews and looking closely at the specs. A lot of technology whent to create this bike and quite a way from the the KZs. This bike has a bundle of technology behind it. That makes it extreemly riliable and it just feels that way too! With the stock exhaust it sounds like a super tuned turbo Porche! I beleive the future models of the ZRX may come with the fuel-injection and other features that will modernize this bike even more. Also the 2004 model came in a silver color and this one I got came with the stainless headers and stainless exhaust cannister. Most models came with he black header pipes and stainless cannister. The silver color is not a common color for the 04 model year, but a very nice color to naked eye. The 05 are all green and white traditional for the ZRXs. In the Mid West you can find a silver model and at a good price if you shop around. I do get an awful lot of looks at stop lights and when I park it people come up and ask is that the new Kawasaki? what can I say... To sum up the bike is comfortable, stable, very fast and relaible. See ya on the road... a Boca Raton weekend worrior. |
