It´s not fast, it´s not light, it has unique suspension but the R1100rs se is one hell of a product. I can say it´s the first bike I have treated like a car. It gets washed regularly and comes up like new. I get on, it starts up without the choke and I´m away. I chased a Maserati up the road one Saturday afternoon and reached 115mph in road quick time. He used his power and fuel to burn off into the sunset as I took my hands off the handlebars. Result was a rock steady motorcycle, straight as an arrow. Most uneventful. The seat initially is not that comfortable and I jiggle for the first few miles. After that it´s no big problem. Talking comfort, the screen is adjustable as are the bars and seat. I have not found a position to reduce the wind turbulence after 30mph. This noise can only be reduced with good earplugs. Fuel-wise I always seem to get 45mpg which means over 200 miles to the tank. To me that´s London without stopping. The BMW luggage fits well and for me, sufficient for a long trip. The ABS plastic rear panniers are a doddle to fit and the tank bag is roomy and waterproof. The only real gripe is the heated handlebars. On mine they are rubbish. |
