BEAT IT(YAMAHA RX 100) | ||
BEAT IT (yamaha rx 100) Yamaha made its initial foray into India with the famous 2-stroke (all time legend), the RD 350. It was surely ahead of it s time in terms of reliability, power and control.It gave a sudden boost for power hungry Indians for such higher displacement 2 strokes.Anyway due to poor mileage it failed in the indian market. But here comes the another true legend which beats all the present bikes in the indian market with its true stunting performance,Oh yeah, the legendary yamaha RX 100.... Yamaha 2-stroke success continued with the rx series, especially the rx 100. Why all these people prefer rx 100/rx135 to modern bikes (so called fastest bikes) in the indian market¿ Let me explain ! 1.General specifications Dimensions Overall length-2040mm overall width- 740mm overall height-1050mm seat height - 765mm wheel base - 1240mm minimun ground clearnace-145mm Weight (with oil and full fuel tank)-103kg minimum turning radius - 2100mm Engine - Air cooled,2stroke,gasoline 7 port torque induction. Cylinder arrangement-sigle cylinder,forward inclined. Displacement - 98 cm3 Bore * stroke - 50 * 50 mm Compression ratio - 6.7 : 1 Max power - 11.0 PS @ 7500 rpm Starting system - kick starter Air filter - wet foam Fuel tank capacity - 10.5 L Carburetor - vM20/MIKUNI Spark gap - 0.7-0.8 mm Clutch type - wet, multiplate disc 2. Style and Ergonomics The rx 100 is a very handsome bike. It looks partly naked with a solid body.It is based on the concept of simple design with simple looks (uniform design languvage). Build quality is of top priority in designing this bike, no longer seen on other bikes. We can see all those useless plastic fairings seen on pulsars,karizmas etc simply adding more weights to these bikes. We can say girls prefer boys riding on RX 3.Performance. Everybody knows its a true performer under all indian road conditions.Its 98cc and 11 PS is a combination that has not seen on any of the indian bikes.It was arguably the most fun set of two wheels you could buy for reasonable money. Fun,solid,reliable fun. The rx´s engine is distinctive, unique and it can take on the best of the best. The engine responds effectively under all rpms. The engine is smooth , it takes its power so precisely. Like other stink wheels, this one came with a fitment no longer seen on todays bikes, - A PROPER POWER BAND. By 1. porting 2. overboring 3. using imported fibre reed valves 4. using an expansion chamber it will take off , on all of the so called power commuters (4-stroke junkyards) in the indian market.Even the stock rx is capable of beating pulsar 180s , apache 160s. If they find anyone of rx standing beside the red signal, they will shut their visor completely in order to avoid 2 t smoke entering their nose.If all the above said modifications are done, then the rx goes like a comet. 0-60km/hr yam rx 100 4.1 s pulsar 220 4.7s karizma R 4.70s YZF R15 5.12s apache rtr 180 4.64s What is the use of useless DTS-i technologies ¿ 3.Handling One of the primary reasons behind the success of this bike. Easy to manoeuvre in slow moving city traffic as well as at high speeds.The rx 100s telescopic fork (japanese kayaba) and rear shock absorber make sure that the bike is well-planted on the road.The yamaha rx 100 is a highly versatile machine that can do almost everything comfortably be it sport riding , city commuting, touring or stunting. There is absolutely no area where the bike refuses to perform.Pulsar is the worst bike i have ever experienced in terms of handling and comfort. Simply going to these so called new generation bikes is an absolute waste of money. 4. Reliability and Maintenance No doubt, rx is the most reliable . Launched in 1985, after 23 years it is still there untransformed. Not even a single costly maintenance is required for this bike. It will go and go without letting the rider and our money down. Here is the tips for easy maintance 1.Air filter-Wash the element in the solvent,squeeze excess solvent out of the element and dry. 2.Check oil level - maintain transmission oil level between MAX and MIN lines 3.Spark gap - spark gap 0.7-0.8 mm 4.Carburetor - check/adjust/idle speed,starter operation. 5.Fuel line - check fuel hose for cracks or damage 6.Battery -add distilled water every 15 days 7.Clutch - check operation 8.Drive chain - length (10 links) limit -121 mm check tension every 1000 kms 5.Resale value. I own a 1987 model yam rx 100, even now after its retest it is going to fetch rs 25000/. The demand for rx 100/rx135 is high due to people hating these 4 stroke junkyards in the indian market.You can buy a 2004 pulsar 2nd hand for only rs 12000/. What resale value does pulsar, apache, has despite spending so much money for maintaining such a huge bike¿ 6.2-strokes r the future. There are two reasons for the giant-slaying performance of a hot two-stroke: the combustion process and their simplicity.In recent years the tendency has been to handicap the two strokes via the engine capacity,as happened in MotoGP when the four strokes were given a 98 per cent capacity advantage.In motocross and enduro 250cc two-strokes must compete against 450cc four strokes.The DI(direct injection) two-stroke gave the same peak power but almost importantly had more peak torque and a wider torque range than the four-stroke.The engine used less oil,no more exhaust smoke,exhaust noise or hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide.And also it proved smaller,lighter and less costly, as well more fuel efficient and cheaper and easier to maintain.Several smaller motorcycle marques dont rule out building two-stroke road bikes.KTM,Europe´s biggest motorcycle manufacturer,is an ardent believer.´We do not see the end of the two-stroke - scientific research gives no killer argument to stop this technology´says KTM race boss Winfried Kerschhaggl. There are strong arguments in favour of the two stoke,but will a next generation two-stroke be as much as fun as an old school one¿ ´The two-stroke makes a more fun motorcycle,always will do,´says Fleck.´The engine is more responsive and the power to weight ratio is much better than a four stroke´.Two strokes are levelier than four-strokes because they produce twice as many power strokes,which wont change whatever next generation technologies are used. The RX is hugely impressive piece of engineering, the most powerful bike. Its acceleration means you have got to have a go. SUPERB MAN-MACHINE INTERACTION..... |
