Looking for a bike for your kid. | ||||||
We purchased this bike last year off the showroom and it has been a great and very reliable bike. It starts easily and is zippy! My son has had a blast with it. There are some serious considerations if you do buy this bike however. We noticed right away that the chain that comes with the bike does not hold up for even 3 hours of riding and has to be adjusted frequently. It would be best if you got a better chain immediately, because it gets worse. What happened recently is the really bad part. Despite routine adjustments and proper maintenance, the chain popped off the rear sprocket during a ride, despite the pre-ride adjustment, bunched in the case and caused the case to be cracked. Despite having bought a warranty and doing what we were supposed to do all along, Honda is refusing to honor our warranty. (note to self - donĀ“t bother with buying a warranty because it is worthless) Despite chain guards being a common part on most dirtbikes, as chains do come loose during rides and do come off the sprocket, this bike has NO protection in the case. Thus, if your chain does come off and it will, you will be a very unhappy parent after buying a premium bike at a premium price and it is basically ruined. We are looking at a VERY expensive repair, the bike is unrideable until it is done, and feel pretty disappointed in Honda as a whole for this reason. The design failure that would cost them a few bucks to put this chain guard in will now cost close to a Dollars 1000 to fix, Thanks a lot Honda! |
