Having just blown up my 550GT kawa.I needed somthing to get the 17 miles to work on,a friend told me there was an FJ on E-bay it only £650,I hadn´t got internet access at the time so I gave him £700 and asked him to bid the 700 at the end of the sale,I was going to be away on holiday when the sale ended so I wouldn´t get to see my purchase till a week later, once he called and told me I had won it , I wanted to come home early,(the wife wouldn´thave non of it!)it was worth the wait,it sounded great ,even with OE exhaust, the first ride was great too, made me feel 17 again,it had an oil level light on,I changed the oil and filter it made no difference, the vender had said it had been on all the time he had owned it,an oil level senser at £68+VAT would cure it.(or I could take the bulb out for nothing!)so far it has been reliable, comfortable and stable enough for my riding style the only two minor faults I can find are it could do with another gear or at least a gear position indicator , and a shaft drive would save a lot of work ajusting the chain,That said it pulls like a train and once in top gear you dont need a left leg,The 16´ wheels make roundbouts fun as the plastics deck out ,also scareing following motorist as the rear wheel hops out, all good clean fun,This bike was one I always hankerd after from the first time I ever saw a pitcure in the M/C press, when I was in my 20s.It´s a rare thing when somthing turns out to be so much better than a young mans dream,This bike ticks all the right boxes,God knows what I can replace it with when the sad day comes!I have had loads of big bikes older and newer nothing has the charisma of the 1985 FJ1100.I only bought it as a means of getting to work, but I can´t keep off it,it reminds me of the first time I rode a Z1.This is a bike for all seasons,DEFINITLEY £6OO WELL SPENT!! | |
