I ride a 1996 Daytona in bright yellow and have found it a bike with real character. I imagine it is what the Laverda Jota would have evolved into had it survived.

I bought the Daytona with 22,000 miles under her tyres and got a bargain. They are quite rare on British roads as I am not sure Triumph sold that many, possibly as they were a bit confused as to its role. Anyway the original build quality meant it was in excellent condition with thick paint on the bodywork and engine which looked like new. Its vey fast in a ´not sort of fast way´ with plenty of torque and mid range power. It is not that nimble but tracks steady if given plenty of notice about upcoming corners. It sounds fantastic and certainly impresses non bikers. Very reliable with a useful 25 litre tank range. Arms can ache if stuck in traffic but out on the open road it is a plush and comfortable ride. I am keeping this one until it dies, which I think will be a long, long time. | |
