I bought this bike to commute to work and 2-3 hours rides with or without a passenger. I´m very satisfied overall. | ||||||
Weight performance ratio makes it just the right balance for me. It is very stable within legal speed limits. I´ve added a small windshield to reduce wind pressure on extended rides and a pair of leather saddle bags just like the one illustrated on CM400T 1983. Engine can push as fast as we need to pass a car, but suspension, brake and tires are not designed for riding much faster than 120 km/h. The sweet spot is between 90 and 100 km/h for long rides. In city driving, it is light and easy to control. Emergency stop is very easy, thanks to front disk brake. The few things I dislike is the small gas tank (on reserve after only 120km or so, hardly making more than 160km on a tank) and steep muffler angle, which reduces the room available for saddlebags. I might be able to improve radius of autonomy after a tune up and carb cleaning. I had to get the engine rings replaced (oil rings stuck) and valves refurbished to restore compression to specs: not cheap (labour) and oversize rings/pistons are discontinued and very difficult to find. |
