Ok so I had the bike for one year, its fun but costs so much money to have it. | ||||||
I bought the bike for £500 which was a bargain for a 1999 model with less than 15k on the clock (same as 2002 model), took it to a garage and had to pay out about £200 on lil things like brakes, chain, oils etc... Ride bike for a week or so making sure i warmed it up everytime and only rid at half revs till fully warmed, also always run it on fully synthetic oil. But this bike didnt want any of that, things were always going wrong, no electrics, no lights, bulbs blowing, exhaust falling apart, chain locking. Even though i´d just spent £200 pounds on a service. The bike was very fast yeah, for a 50cc 65mph, but was in no way fast. Had to stay at full revs just to accelerate at the speed of a normal car and by the time you reach 65mph you need to slow down because there is no road left. You also have ot adjust your chain at least once a week, which involves loosening the wheels and having the correct tools. Can take up to an hour for first timers so make sure you are stocked up on supplies like spanners and ratchets or you will mess up your chain and sprockets. If you think no this wont happen to me i´ll be lucky, you will not. I thought the same but i ended up spending about £600 on stuff while i had it. I modded mine by getting it fuly de-restrited and adding an arrow down pipe. Didnt change sound at all, added a lil kick at top end but flat spot between 5k and 8k. Which was really sh*te because thats what revs the bike hits when changing from red line so you have no power if going up a hill or something. Take my advice dont buy italian as a first bike, get a fast 4 stroke even if only does 50 compared to the 65 of the aprilia. Don´t spend money on aftermarket accessories like exhausts as they only make the bike run like crap. But if you do still decide to buy an RS be prepard to get the engine rebuilt as mine went and cost £200 to repair just before i sold it, and pay lots of money out on it. This bike is great handling i must say on a good point, the styling is perfect (often mistaken for a 125 and sometimes a 250) but if you want a reliable bike don´t get this, you will waste your money as everything else on this bike is crap.
