Awsome motor! Handles well for the heaviest Ducati. Still a pain in the ass brand to own but I love them anyway. | ||||||
After 10,000 miles: speedometer/tach cluster replaced under warranty because not all the lcd digits would show. Fairing had a crack probably due to overtightening of well nut by dealer assembly guy, Replaced by dealer. ECU replaced under warranty after dealer fiddled with it and it wouldn´t run right (popping sound on deceleration). Headlamp assembly replaced under warranty due to fingerprints inside lens. Left side turn signal switch assmbly replaced under warranty ´cause it would no longer cancel. Now the front brakes (semi-floaters) shudder under hard braking from crap in the buttons, Dealer says to clean the buttons (out of warranty now). I´m replacing rotors with Galfer full floaters. The dealer in Yorktown, Va. has been perfectly fair to me and gone the extra mile to make it right. I do not think this bike is built as well as my previous ´95 900 SP, ´96 M900, or ´98 748. However it is the best long distance bike I have ever used (Electraglide and Road King included). I have had the 6K service done under warranty and am not touching the valves or belts again until around 24K. Just an experiment. The ´96 M900 has 19K on the odo. and runs fine. If they blow up I´ll get another motor or another bike. I think the valve story is a revenue producing scare tactic from Ducati. I hate taking my bike to the shop when it´s running ok. If I´m wrong I´ll eat it and send in the report. Regards to everyone and good luck with whatever you ride. |
