We bought one of these for my girlfriend´s twelve year old son so he could get a headstart learning how to ride a bike. This scooter is just fantastic. When he isn´t riding it, I take it for short joyrides through the neighborhood. Doing 25MPH on this feels like doing 60 MPH on my BMW. The handling is excellent and the ride is very comfortable. This one must have sat with unstabilized fuel in the carburator for a while. It took a couple of hours to figure out how to get to it and clean it but it runs great now. I think it is a very simple bike to work on and I wouldn´t be afraid to do major surgery on it. However, the 50cc motor is just a tad too small. I´m 6´3´ and 250 lbs. and this tops out at 35MPH on a flat. It boggs down a bit further riding up a hill. I think it would be worth it to spend the money on a kit ( Dollars 500.00) to increase the displacement to 70cc. I´m told the bike will top out at about 56 MPH with this type of kit. That would make it a very useful and far more versatile vehicle. I believe the miles per gallon loss from a slightly bigger engine would be minimal. |
