I was actually pointed to Kymco by a Vespa dealer! he said they use the same quality control system, but cost a thousand dollars less.

the ride home on my new Kymco Super 8 150cc was chancy. I never rode a new bike before and didn´t realize the engine would lag and under preform. I turned onto Donelson pike, a 45mph high way passing the Nashville airport. I instantly found out that the engine wouldn´t come to full RPM! I putted down this busy highway at only 40mph, being honked and cursed all the way. I finally got the engine to come to life about half way home and found that it was difficult to keep it under 50mph! it wanted to cruise at 55mph at half throttle. A few weeks later I got it up to 63mph going down Franklin road. it will go 50mph up a hill and stops on a dime. I believe the 75mpg range is accurate. yes I blatantly ignored the break in period, but I´ve detected no problems as of yet, and it seems to idle and accelerate better all the time. I only have a hundred miles until its fully broken in at 600 miles. Kymco´s factory warranty is very good. two years, one year bumper to bumper, another year drive train labor included. Honestly I don´t think I´ll need it. my only peeves with the bike are the awkward kick start position, and the ever present scooter vice, lack of cup holders. Other than that its as good as good can get. the sticker price for the 150cc is Dollars 2299, Howard´s Honda gave me the bike for Dollars 2990 cash and even threw in a chrome plate frame and reflective bolts! they gassed it up warmed it up and even test drove it for me around the parking lot before they would even let me touch it. the bike has all sorts of HP parts available just type in ´GY6 performance parts´ into google and see what happens. almost every part for the GY6 will fit this bike. Yoshimura and Two Bros. both have came out with HP pipes for this bike. It is so much bike for the money, even more so when you realize the added performance you can get from HP parts. This bike will bring you years of service as a commuter bike and then even more years of joy as a pit/project bike, it is a excellent investment in your future. | |
