i was saving up for a kwaka er6n when i found this 2006 hyo 650r. i´d never heard of the brand but liked the look of the bike and the titanium paint job, the price was grouse too. i took a chance and bought it.

i´ve now done 41000km on it, including across the nullabor. engines never missed a beat. maintainence wise i´ve had to replace the back disc and the drive chain.(sprockets were still good surprisingly) easy bike to work on. (straight forward, no fuel injection.) the workshop manual is a free download from the hyosung US website. i replaced the exhaust with a superpole #1 which increased the power markedly. brakes improved heaps with high temp pads. bike had oversize pirelli diablos on it which i replaced with standard metzler roadtec´s. improving the handling no end. i fightered it up with led indicators and tattoo handgrips and a tank protector decal. not a lot of bucks but made a lot of difference. since the bike has been given the LAMS rego i have had two offers for it. i think the resale value will be same as any other bike if you look after it. i´ve heard hyosung made a few lemons in earlier models but quality control seems to have caught up now (post 2005) it has more grunt than the suzuki sv65o which it´s copied from and it´s over two grand cheaper. i´m an old rider who has owned a lot of road bikes. in my opinion it was a good buy.a fun bike to ride, reliable, and value for money. | |
