I have recently returned to riding after 6 years absence and chose a 98 CBR 600F.

The CBR 600 is an attractive looking bike and even though it´s years old it still turns heads and sounds wonderful. It sometimes takes a few tries to start, and catches several times before eventually firing into life. It also takes a few minutes to warm up but it´s worth the wait. The bike is really comfortable to ride, easy to manouver and plenty quick enough for UK roads. Most of the time you will able around at 8-9000 revs but if necessary it will accelerate all the way to 140mph and beyond without really noticing any slow down in performance. Around the bends the bike if reliable and easy to get over, I had eliminated the ´chicken strips´ after just a few rides. Coming out of the bends the bike will accelerate without any fear of a ´high side´ and is happy to just keep on going. I´m not one for wheelies but the front end has been up twice but easily managed by a touch of the back brake. On the whole it´s agreat bike to get back into the sport, whether or not I will feel teh need for teh 900 next year?...only time will tell. | |
