KICKSTART/SEIZING PROBLEM
Eric Reinemann said 2010-06-18 07:50
So, I went to kickstart my 1971 Honda CB350 the other day and I kicked it down, and it did not return to position. I figured that the kickstart had been stripped and the crankshaft reloaded, but did not turn the actual kickstart back up. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I attempted to install the new electric starter that the previous owner gave me when I purchased the bike. When I turn the key, I got zero response. Fail. Then, I tried push starting it in second gear. I got one burble of the engine on the first try, and then the wheel started locking up from then on. When I push the kickstart down there is essentially no resistance. When I wind it backwards it makes a big click sound every 4 inches of movement or so. Has my engine seized? Is there something wrong with the crankshaft? I´m new to all of the motorcycle stuff, but am getting my license this saturday and really want to have a bike to ride at least for the last month of the summer! It had been running beautifully up until now. One more piece of information that I will add is that every certain part of the kickstart revolution, it would sort of get stuck. I would allow the kickstart to return to position and then I could get it to kick all the way down. PLEASE HELP! - Eric
