Hi Mike, I just came across this forum and saw your posting from last year. I own a Honda Elite 250 1985 model year purchased in 1986 and am the original owner. The first 5 years I owned it, I rode it a lot...a real lot. As such, I put about 17,000 miles on it during that time and it currently has about 19,000 miles on it.
As for mileage, my discovery with the bike is that speed will greatly affect gas mileage. Thus, if you are going at about 60 mph, expect to get about 40 mpg. However, if you are out on back roads and just coasting along at about 25 or 35 mph, you will get about 100 mpg. I live near a lot of rural and back roads and could go out for hours on a tank of gas when just casually driving. But when I hit the highway and speed up, the gas drops appreciably faster. My wife and I have been on it together many times and I don\\\\\\\´t think that weight has as much to do with the mpg as the speed. FYI, I weighed about 150 lbs in the 80\\\\\\\´s and weigh about 180 lbs now. Combined weight with my wife is about 300 lbs.
