What RPM should my CX 500 be at 60 MPH

My 1979 CX 500 is in beautiful condition, but everyone tells me my RPMs are too high for the speed I\´m going. It reads about 5,500 RPM at 55 miles per hour. and 6,000 at 60 MPH. Is this right? How does it compare to other CX 500\´s and is there a web site that has these kind of specs. Thanks
