My hands go numb on pretty much any bike I´m riding. But in-line fours are definitely the worst with those high frequency buzzes. I speak with some experience, having a 97 CBR1000F and an 84 VF1000R in the garage and recently selling my Kawasaki VN1500.
I tend to tense up as I ride with a constant throttle opening. Your hands are in the same position, holding the throttle at the same opening and, as a consequence, your shoulders and neck tense up as well. First my right hand numbs up and followed shortly after by my left hand. I bet you take your hand off the bars momentarily and give it a shake to restore feeling...
My solution is to relax my upper body and let the blood flow to my hands again...simple as that! You feel that same cool rush and tingle as when you give your hands a shake.
I´ve experimented on many rides and this really does do the trick...relax! 1100klms in 11 hours on the VF1000R from Newcastle to Melbourne last week proved it again, with only 3 stops for fuel on the way and no cruise control or palm rest on the throttle.
