Sorry if my English is not so good as I´d desire... I have an ´84 XS400... I had problems like yours, especially when I left it stopped a couple of days... Last week I decided I was bored of that and I changed the manifolds and cleaned the carbs´ mixing chambers and the problem is over... An ´82 bike must have a lot of dirt in the mixing chambers... It´s nonsense, but now the engine has a cleaner sound... Maybe it´s due to fuel level that it´s wrong because of dirt... I´d suggest to survey http://www.bwenterprises.net. It´s a web of a 70´s and 80´s Yamaha owner and piece seller... You can find there maintenance tips... And he sells parts too: he is really serious... I use to buy parts in eBay... I have body parts I don´t need... If you need any information of this bike service manual, write to me (escacmat@yahoo.es) and I´ll try to scan it... |
