The 1987 Elefant has been,(until the KTM 950 V-twin) the most competent Adventure/rally type motorcycle on the market.While at 50hp,it is not as fast as a bmw gs,it is 140lbs lighter and has great torque from the ducati pantah L-twin motor. the 42mm Marzocchi M1 forks,Brembo brakes and Ohlins shock are great stuff,and the build quality refects the Castiglione brothers´passion for well engineered motorcycles.The Elefant handles amazingly rough terrain with ease and confidence, and is rock-steady and vibraton-free on the highway.This bike was way ahead of it´s time.
