DAYTONA-BILL
BIG BEEFY AND BRITISH said 2003-12-27 16:45
Hi folks, i bought my june 91 (H reg´d) Daytona 1000 while i was working in Canada in late 96 and got it delivered in jan 97 and after a couple of teething troubles (faulty solonoid) she has been very reliable. I´ve changed the fork seals this year and had to replace the left hand silencer/header pipes and silencer mount due to a friend wheelying into the back of me on his Thunderace, but his Ace came off a lot lot worse than my solidly over engineered Trumpet. She´s been used in all weathers but still looks pretty good though i will be giving her a makeover later in the spring. Anybody interrested in the Hinckley T2 factory open day?, it will be on Sunday 16th May 04, where i will have her on display (hopefully). By the way, Foxy was incorrect in his figure of 600 being made, the real figure is nearer 200 (i´ve heard figures of 170+ and 230+ several times), so they are a lot rarer than you thought, though i prefer the word exclusive. But i get an enormous amount of pleasure from her and have, on occaisions, shown a clean set of pipes to several later more sporty R1s etc, so you don´t need a factory race rep to have some fun. Ride on fellow Daytoners.
