hi Scot. I´m not a bike macanic but I do share some of your problems. I just bought a kz1000 that has been sitting for some time. I used to drive by this guys garage everyday on my way to work and I seen this bike there just sitting. It always botherd me that a bike with the power and speed of a kz1000 was just sitting. Anyway I traded an old car for it and I was shocked that it started up after some work to it. Battery fuel ex. After reading up on restoring bikes i found that it was a good idea to get rid of all the old gas and start fresh. My question to you or anybody is. After a bike has sat for a long time and condensation has caused the in side of the tank to rust. Is it possible to clean the in side of that tank or will it have to be replaced. Seems to me it doesnt do any good to clean carbs and tune up the bike if the main fuel source is contaminated.
