79 Honda CX 500 discussion forum: clacking noise front end

hello - i bought my first bike recently, a 1979 Honda CX 500 Custom and have been learning to ride all summer. I love this bike. However, there is a clacking noise coming from the front of the bike (near the rad and fan). After doing some research I immediately thought cam chain however, after taking it to a friend\´s house who knows a lot about bikes it doesn\´t sound like the noise is coming from the back of the engine. We did a manual tighten on the cam chain tensioner with no success. Is there another chain in the front end that could be making this noise? Anyone encountered something like this? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
