84 Harley-Davidson FXST 1340 Softail discussion forum: primary belt drive

I have what i think is a late 84 evo but it seems to have shovel primary and trans.why? This i can deal with but i want to install a belt drive primary due to leaking problems ,how is this going to effect the belt drive set up i buy?
