I have a similar problem. My bike has 54,000 miles. It has been running as strong as ever. Suddenly, it started running very bad and would die at idle. Then it just wouldn\\\´t start. The engine would turn over, but there was no spark to the plugs. Obviously, an electrical problem.
I don\\\´t believe both coils will die at the same time. I have a new, never used CDI unit. I replaced the unit in th ebike with the new unit. Still no spark. I put the old unit back in. I tested the advance pulsar. Everything is within Honda spec. I tested the stator. The specs for the White to Blue reading are 77 to 95 ohms. I got 53. The specs for the Green to White is 315 to 385 ohms. I got 276. All other readings were within Honda specifications.
Am I correct in diagnosing the problem as a bad stator? Changing the stator requires removing the engine from the bike. I don\\\´t want to do this if it isn\\\´t necessary. I can buy a new stator and regulating/rectifier from Electrex. Any opinions on that?
