1979 cx 500 coil replacement and carb gasket replacement

is there such a thing as a left coil and a right right. Can i use or swap coils on a permanent basis. my manual says i can to eliminate or find a bad coil. is this temporary or can i permanently swap left to right. As well, in the carbs, iam replacing gaskets. After removing the upper cover, spring and plunger[with needle] there is a curved plate held by one screw. under that curved plate are two air jets. my anual talks about a gasket under the curved plate. Should my gasket set include a gasket. if so, what does it look like. is it oval shaped or just round. any replies would be great.
